This course consistes of 11 in-depth modules
Module 1 – Models of Counselling.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Explain how the different methods of counselling can contribute to making a positive and effective on your client and how you would support them through counselling activities
Module 2 – Counselling and the Law.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Discuss the care and support that a counsellor provides and how to be competent in practice regarding the law
Module 3 – Equal Opportunites and Non-Discriminatory Practice.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Summarise the support for non- discriminatory practice and demonstrate pursuit of equal opportunities
Module 4 – Ethical Codes of Practice.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Describe the responsibility to care for the physical, psychological and spiritual well-being of their clients
Module 5 – Evaluate and Develop Own Work.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Examine the methods to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of your performance by assessing and examining your own work, identifying needs and opportunities in relation to self development
Module 6 – Operate Referral Procedures.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Summarise the important area of referral clients. Referral includes internal referral within an agency, referral to other agencies and receiving referrals from other agencies or individual practices
Module 7 – Ensure A Structured Counselling Relationship.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Describe the counselling service offered to clients by counsellors working within an explicitly contracted relationship
Module 8 – Develop the Counselling Relationship.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Examine how the counselling relationship, like any other relationship, takes time to develop. As you and your client become more familiar with each other and the relationship progresses, you will find that you relate in different ways
Module 9 – Monitoring Self Within the Counselling Relationship.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Examine how individuals who are working within an explicitly contracted counselling relationship can monitor themselves in relation to their work with clients
Module 10 – Work in Teams.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Describe how working as a member of a team is a fundemental part of many counsellors work. The size, composition and nature of the team may change but there are characteristics common to all teams
Module 11 – Make Use of Supervision.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
It is generally the case that counsellors receive supervision on their work throughout their career. This module sets out the guidelines for the important factors that are needed to be considered for seeking appropriate supervision
