Syllabus
This course covers all the mandatory subjects of the NVQ Level 3 syllabus for becoming a Teaching Assistant and we will provide you with all the help and support you need to ensure your success.
We have found that this course will take around 160 hours of actual study to complete.

This course consists of 12 in-depth modules
Module 1 – Supporting Learning Activities.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Explain how the Teaching Assistant can contribute towards making a positive and effective classroom environment and how you would support learning activities
Module 2 – Safeguarding Children.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Discuss the care and support that a Teaching Assistant provides for individual pupils and groups of pupils
Module 3 – Supporting Children’s Development
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Summarise the support the Teaching Assistant provides for children’s development in planning and evaluating learning activities for the pupil and assisting in the delivery of learning activities
Module 4 – Promoting Positive Pupil Behaviour.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Describe the general support that a Teaching Assistant provides for promoting positive behaviour in their school
Module 5 – Promoting Positive Working Relationships.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Examine the methods that provide good positive relationships with pupils and fellow staff members
Module 6 – Developing Professional Practice.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Summarise your understanding of the principles of inclusive education, understanding learning difficulties and how to promote professional practice in your workplace
Module 7 – Promoting Children’s Well-being and Resilience.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Describe the support that a Teaching Assistant provides in the development of learners’ well-being in the school environment
Module 8 – Supporting Children’s Play.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Examine the support that a Teaching Assistant provides in the development of learners’ play time activities and how different play activities encourage different skills
Module 9 – Supporting Curriculum Delivery.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Examine the preparation and use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment and its maintenance
Module 10 – Supporting Literacy and Numeracy Activities.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Examine the support that a Teaching Assistant provides in the development of learners’ numeracy skills
Module 11 – Supporting Pupils’ with Additional (Special) Needs.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Summarise your understanding of the principles of inclusive education, understanding learning difficulties and the relationship with special educational needs
Module 12 – Supporting the wider work of the School.
On successful completion of this module the candidate will be able to:
Describe the general support that a Teaching Assistant provides for the school
